Advanced micromechanical testing of metals, alloys and coatings
Metallic materials rarely experience simple, quasi-static loading under ideal conditions. Their performance is strongly influenced by loading rate, repeated deformation, friction and wear.
In this webinar, together with Dr Renato Pero from Alemnis, we will explore advanced micromechanical testing methods for metallurgy, steel and metallic alloys, with a focus on strain-rate-dependent behaviour, micro- and nanoscale fatigue, and tribology.
Topics will include high-strain-rate testing, cyclic loading of micropillars and microcantilevers, scratch testing, friction and wear measurements, and mechanical characterisation of coatings and surface-treated materials.
We will also look at how in-situ SEM imaging can reveal deformation, damage initiation and failure mechanisms as they occur.
